Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, this park is considered one of the best sandy beaches in Ontario and features the largest freshwater sand dunes in the world. The golden beaches of this park make this an interesting stop for swimming or having a picnic and appreciating nature, not to mention this fragile habitat is home to some interesting and rare flora, as well as some of the park’s wildlife. Fans of birdwatching, camping, cycling, fishing, and swimming are sure to find something to love about Sandbanks!
Port Hope
From scenic, meditative walks along Laveanne Lavender Fields to a 200-acre farm stocked with Nigerian Dwarf goats, Icelandic horses, alpacas, chickens, and more at Haute Goat, Port Hope is chock full of interesting attractions. One of the best you can see from the 401 is the VW Beetle Spider, a massive sculpture with dangling spider legs suspended atop a post.
